Here's how to whip up a batch for yourself:

Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3-pound beef pot roast
  • 1 sweet onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of French Cuffs Seasoning
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • Sergio’s Seasoning (to taste)
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • French bread rolls
  • Shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions:

Prepare the Beef & Au Jus:
  1. Cut the roast into 4 – 6 evenly-sized pieces.
  2. Preheat the olive oil in a large skillet and add the roast pieces, searing on all sides.
  3. Remove seared roast from skillet and add to slow cooker in an even layer.
  4. Add the onion, French Cuffs seasoning, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Sergio’s Seasoning, red pepper flakes (optional), and bay leaves, then pour in the beef broth.
  5. Cook on the slow cooker’s high temperature setting for 2 hours, then switch to low temperature and cook for an additional 3 hours. The beef is ready when it shreds easily with a fork.
  6. Strain the juice from the pot and set aside.
  7. Remove the bay leaves, then shred the meat to your liking.

Assemble the Sandwiches:

  1. Preheat your oven's broiler.
  2. Slice the French rolls in half, coat with butter, then lightly toast them under the broiler for a few minutes until they turn golden brown.
  3. Remove the rolls from the oven and layer the bottom halves with the shredded beef.
  4. Place a generous amount of Gruyère cheese on top of the beef, ensuring it covers the meat evenly.
  5. Return the sandwiches to the broiler and broil for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove the sandwiches from the oven and carefully place the top halves of the rolls on each sandwich.
  7. Pour the prepared au jus into individual dipping bowls or ramekins and serve warm.
  8. Enjoy!
