You’ve successfully cooked “The Best Steaks on Earth” and true to photos, the steaks were larger than life and you can’t finish them. Of course, you don’t want that great steak to go waste. Don’t worry, we have a few different ideas for you to make some out-of-this-world leftovers. 

Here’s a few ideas of how to easily transform your leftovers into something marvelous, with little effort. 

Breakfast - Steak and Cheddar Toasts:

Try these steak and cheddar toasts for a simple yet super savory weekend breakfast that’s easy to make - especially because your steak is already cooked! They are rich, hearty, and honestly, what sounds better than a layer of a sunny side up egg over tender steak all on top of cheesy toast made from buttery French bread? Here's how to create this masterpiece:

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces of thick french bread
  • 5 oz. extra sharp cheddar, shredded
  • 6 Tbsp. butter at room temp, divided
  • 10 oz. New York Strip Steak
  • Sergio's Seasoning, to taste
  • 3 green onions, diced

Directions:

  1. Slather the butter over each side of the French bread, and then place it in a skillet over medium heat. 
  2. Cook each side for 1-2 minutes, or until they are toasted golden brown. Once done, top them with shredded cheddar. 
  3. Slice your steak, and warm it up in a different skillet. 
  4. Once the steak is done and removed, in the same skillet add 2 tablespoons of butter and gently crack the eggs into the pan so that they don’t touch.
  5. Cook the eggs for 5-6 minutes until the whites are set. Spoon any excess butter in the pan over the eggs while they’re cooking. 
  6. Once the eggs are done, layer the steak over the cheesy toasts, top them each with one sunny side up egg, and sprinkle them with Sergio's Seasoning and chopped green onions.
  7. Voila! Enjoy it immediately while it’s still hot.

Tip - How to Slice Steak:

Here’s a chef tip on how to slice up your steak that will make these recipes so much easier to execute. 

To slice your steak correctly, slice against the grain. The grain is the direction of the steak’s muscle fibers. Look closely at your steak, and you will see lines in it that are parallel to each other - that’s your grain! Depending on the cut of meat, sometimes they are easy to spot and sometimes more difficult. Merely make perpendicular slices that make a “T” with the grain of the steak, and there you have it. 

This actually makes quite an impact on your steak because, when done correctly, it cuts through the muscle fibers of the steak and shortens them, resulting in steak that is much easier to chew.

You have two paths - the light salad option, or a power up with this steak bowl. Either option will let you enjoy all the flavor in a smaller quantity perfect for lunch.

Easy Steak Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette: 

Try this delicious and fresh steak salad to throw your leftover steak into. Easy to make and full of crisp vegetables, this is a great light and crisp salad, in case you feel like you need to have something healthier after your steak feast the night before. To create this easy salad, here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound flank steak or skirt steak
  • 1/2 head lettuce greens
  • 1 bunch arugula (young leaves), tough stems removed
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced lengthwise and cut into 1-inch-long pieces
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1 avocado, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 4 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
  • Pomegranate seeds or thinly sliced kumquats (optional)

For the Dressing:

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (smooth), or 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • Sergio's Seasoning, to taste

Directions:

  1. Cut your leftover steak into thin and wide pieces against the grain, and warm it up.
  2. Toss the lettuce greens, arugula, bell pepper, goat cheese, and scallions together. 
  3. Place it on the desired plate/plates, sprinkle it with avocado, and top it with your sliced steak (the recipe calls for chilled steak). Sprinkle this with pomegranates or sliced kumquats (optional).
  4. To make your dressing, mix the lemon juice, olive oil, mustard, and Sergio's Seasoning (to taste) together.
  5. Voila! Drizzle the dressing over the salad whenever you’re ready to dive in!

Try these extremely easy-to-make and healthy steak power bowls that are full of healthy vegetables and sweet potato fries. They are not only tasty, but also amazing because you can use not only leftover steak, but also make the sweet potato fries for another meal, and then use the leftover fries for this as well. To create this wonder, here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs of your favorite steak cut
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 teaspoons Sergio's Seasoning (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 8 cups romaine lettuce
  • 4 cups spinach
  • 2 avocados
  • ¼ red onion
  • 2 cups tomatoes
  • Cilantro

For the Sweet Potatoes

  • 2 small sweet potatoes cut into fries
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon coconut oil

For the Balsamic Vinaigrette

  • 3 teaspoons Sergio's Seasoning, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. 
  2. Cut the sweet potatoes into fries (you don’t need to peel them). 
  3. Toss them with some oil and salt, and then bake them for about 15 minutes. 
  4. To make the balsamic vinaigrette, whisk the oil, vinegar, and Sergio's Seasoning together in a bowl. 
  5. To put together the finished piece, add a few handfuls of greens, tomatoes, red onions, and avocado to a bowl. 
  6. Slice your steak, warm it if desired, and add it to the bowl, along with the sweet potato fries.
  7. Voila! Top it all off with your dressing, and dig in!

Steak Stew:

There’s nothing heartier than a heavenly bowl of stew. Try this steak stew recipe for something simple, filling, and so downright delicious comfort food (that’s healthy)! To create this scrumptious stew, here's what you'll need:

Ingredients:

  • 1 leftover sirloin steak, grilled or pan-fried
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Sergio's Seasoning (to taste)
  • 4 small potatoes
  • 3-5 carrots
  • 3 celery stalks
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions:

  1. Chop everything (including your steak), into bite-size pieces. 
  2. Add carrots, Sergio's Seasoning, and 1/2 of the onion to a pot and cook them with water over medium heat to soften. 
  3. Add the steak to the pot just before the onion is done. 
  4. Add water as needed, and then add the potatoes, the rest of the onion, and the celery.
  5. Cook it until the potatoes are fully cooked.
  6. Stir in cornstarch until it’s the consistency you desire.
